A. Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to honor America's fallen firefighters. Q. How can I visit the NFFF Headquarters and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial?
A. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation headquarters is located on the campus of the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The Foundation's offices are located in the newly renovated National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Chapel which sits adjacent to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Q. What is the date for the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend?
A. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation holds its memorial service on the Sunday that marks the start of the National Fire Prevention Week. The date varies from year to year, please visit the Foundation Events Calendar for more information on this year's Memorial Weekend.

A. The Foundation offers Taking Care of Our Own® (Preparing for and Handling a LODD) and Courage to Be Safe (LODD Prevention) training to fire departments and organizations.

Q. Can bricks be ordered online?
A. Yes, bricks can be ordered from the Foundation's Website.
Q. What happens when a brick order is placed?
A. In approximately three weeks the purchaser will receive a letter and certificate in the mail. When the brick will be placed, they will be sent a postcard, and the brick's location will be available on our Web site.
Q. What is the protocol for lowering the U.S. Flag?

Information on the use of flags in funeral activities for both line-of-duty and non-line-of-duty deaths can be found in the Chaplain's Manual created for the Foundation by the Federation of Fire Chaplains.

Q. How do I volunteer to help the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation?
A. We have many opportunities for fire service members and survivors to help the Foundation honor our fallen bravest. If you are a member of the fire service would like to volunteer please contact us online or call us at 301-447-1365. Family members who have lost a loved one in the line-of-duty can volunteer as part of our Fire Service Survivors Network by contacting us online or calling 301-447-1365.

A.Please visit our Department Resource page for a variety of resources to help you prepare for or handle a Line-of-Duty death. For hard copies of these resources please call the Foundation offices at 301-447-1365.
Q. Do you have any brouchures or resources to help cope with losing a loved one or colleague?
A. Yes, we have a variety of resource material available free of charge to help you cope with the loss of a loved one or friend. You can request materials through our Grief Publications program or borrow a book through our Lending Library. You may also call the Foundation offices at 301-447-1365 to request a copy of any of the resources listed.
Q. Do I qualify for a scholarship?
A. Spouses, children, and stepchildren of firefighters honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial qualify for the scholarship program. Children and stepchildren must be under age 30 and have been under age 22 at the time of the firefighter's death. Q. When are scholarship applications available and when are they due?
A. Scholarship applications are mailed each January.
